The short version: your idea is private. One person can read it, it is never published or sold, nothing is used to train a model, and you can have all of it deleted by asking. Everything below is a description of how the site actually behaves, not a statement of intent.
Merit's operator, and nobody else. Your submission sits in a private database that only he and the services listed below can reach, and it is never published, sold, listed, or shown to another founder. There is no public feed and no directory of ideas. The only way another person sees your idea is if you send them the link yourself.
Everything you typed into the grading form, your name, your email address, and the report we generated from it. For security we also keep a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) and your browser's user-agent string, which is how rate limiting works. If you apply for a build we store that application too. It all stays until you ask us to delete it.
Your results page and your certificate live at unguessable addresses. The certificate also requires a signed token that only you receive, so the address alone is not enough. Both pages tell search engines not to index them, and the site's robots file keeps crawlers away from results, applications and admin pages entirely. If you share your certificate link, that is your decision — nothing of yours is public until you make it so.
Your idea text is sent to Anthropic's API to produce the evaluation. Your name and email are deliberately stripped out before it goes — the model grades the idea, never the person. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, data sent this way is not used to train their models. If you ever buy a researched report, that process also runs web searches built from your idea's category and market, which means those search terms reach a search engine.
Neon stores the database. Vercel hosts the site and counts page views anonymously, with no cookies and no ad trackers. Resend delivers your email and therefore sees your address, your name and your report. Stripe handles payment if you ever buy something, and we never see your card number. Each gets only what it needs. Nobody else, ever.
A mutual NDA is signed before you share anything beyond the application itself. You own 100% of the code and the intellectual property, from the first commit. We do not take equity by default, we do not reuse your idea for another client, and we do not build a competing version of it. The application and anything you send with it are covered by everything else on this page.
We will never sell your data, share it with advertisers, publish your idea, enter it into any directory, or use it to train a model. We send transactional email only — your report, and replies to things you asked for. Every message carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
Ask, and your submission, your report, and your email address are removed. A person does it by hand and replies to confirm, within 7 days and usually much sooner. It is handled by a human on purpose: an instant self-serve button would let anyone delete someone else's work by guessing their email.
